Karori  is a member of Sheep Genetics Australia ( SGA) and we are benchmarking our progeny across Australia with all merinos. The Index used by SGA is a benchmark index used within the entire merino industry across Australia. All databases for analysing a sheep's performance have now been collated into a single database and the results are expressed as ASBVs (Australian Sheep Breeding Values)

ASBV REFERENCE:

*    NLW= Number of lambs weaned (a positive value is good-this figure is correlated to the mothering ability of the ewe)

*    YEMD= Yearling Eye Muscle Depth (a positive value is good-the higher the better)

*    YSS= Yearling Staple Strength (a positive value is good-the higher the better)

*    YWT= Yearling Body Weight (a positive value is good-the higher the value, the                  more the sheep will weigh as yearlings)

*    YWEC= Yearling Worm Egg Count (a negative value is good- the more negative the better)

*    20%SS INDEX= Emphasis on moderately reducing Fibre Diameter, maintaining Fleece Weight and Body Weight as well as increasing Staple Strength. Anything above 127 in 2011 is above average across the merino industry.

SEMEN PRICE:

$40 per dose + GST for unproven Sires

An unproven Sire is a young sire who has not yet been progeny tested or has no ASBVs

$55 per dose + GST for Proven Sires

Minimum order is 30 doses

The purchaser is also responsible for despatching fees and freight costs
